PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The No. 35 Columbia women's tennis team got back on the winning track as it claimed a 4-0 shutout victory over Brown Sunday at the Brown Varsity Tennis Center. The victory was Columbia's fifth shutout win of the year.
The win improves Columbia to 13-2 overall on the year and 2-1 in Ivy League play. Brown drops to 9-10 overall and 1-2 in Ivy League competition.
Columbia opened the day with two quick doubles victories to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore

Melissa Sakar claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Brown's Ryan Peus and Julia Newman and sophomore

Andrea Kevakian won a 6-1 decision at No. 2 doubles over Brown's Alessandro Bianco and Juliana Simon.
Sakar put Columbia up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Brown's Courtney Kowalsky. Then, Kerr defeated Brown's Devon Jack 6-4, 7-6 (1) at No. 1 singles for a 2-0 Lions lead. Columbia first-year
Akanksha Bhan sealed the win as she rallied from behind to defeat Brown's Taylor Cosme 2-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Four regular season Ivy League matches remain, including three at home. No. 35 Columbia is next in action on Friday, April 12 at Dick Savitt Tennis Center against No. 37 Princeton.
