Women’s Tennis Set to Host Columbia Quad

Lions to play final home contest in the fall season

NEW YORK – The Columbia women's tennis team is set to host its final fall home contest this weekend, hosting the Columbia Quad beginning Friday and lasting until Sunday at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center. 

The Lions will host App State, Hofstra, and Princeton at the Milstein Family Tennis Center this weekend. The format will once again be a hidden dual tournament format. Teams will play one set of doubles with no advantage. The singles matches will be best-of-three. 

The hidden dual format resembles dual play during the spring season, but no team scores are counted during the fall. All doubles and singles results are credited individually..

TOURNAMENT INFO & SCHEDULE

All matches will be played outdoors, unless inclement weather occurs, and are open to the public. There will be no video this weekend or live stats available this weekend.

Friday 9/26:
10 a.m. - Columbia/App State

Saturday 9/27 (Outdoors)
9 a.m. - Hofstra/App State
4 p.m. - Princeton/Columbia

Saturday 9/27 (Indoors if necessary)
Noon - Princeton/Columbia
6 p.m. - App State/Hofstra 

Sunday 9/28:
9 a.m. - Princeton/App State
1 p.m. - Hofstra/Columbia

LAST TIME OUT
A trio of Lions are coming off a strong showing at the ITA All-American Championships earlier this week in Cory, N.C.

Gayathri Krishnan, ranked No. 108 in the ITA Preseason poll, earned a win over No. 59 Nevena Carton of Wake Forest. 

Sophomore Malak El Allami won a pair of matches and came close to capturing a third - holding match point at deuce, 5-4 in the third set - before falling to Ivy League foe Alice Ferlito of Princeton. 

Sophomore Amber Yin also picked up a strong singles win in the back draw, defeating Northern Arizona's Patrycja Niewiadomska in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
