Men's Golf to Host Columbia Spring Invitational on Saturday

12-team invitational will feature two rounds of golf on Saturday at Montclair Golf Club; Two Lions teams will compete in the 36-hole event.
MONTCLAIR, N.J.—The Columbia men's golf program will host its Columbia Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 13 at Montclair Golf Club in Montclair, N.J. The two-round, 36-hole event will be played on Saturday with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. ET.
Pairings and results will be available later in the week on Golfstat.com. Practice rounds are scheduled for Friday beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
Twelve teams will compete on Saturday including Bryant, Colgate, Columbia A, Columbia B, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Monmouth, Rider, Saint Francis, N.Y., Saint Joseph's and Saint Peter's.
Two Columbia teams will compete in the event. Columbia Team A will feature sophomore John Robertson, sophomore Arjun Puri, first-year Derek Kim, first-year Daniel Core and junior Nick Brisebois. Columbia Team B will compete as individuals and will feature Cullen Chung, Sunny Yan, Dan Terrell, Youn Sung Kim, and Pat Healy. Updated Columbia season statistics are posted at this link.
The Lions are coming off a seventh place finish at the Princeton Invitational in which Core (11th place) and Puri (18th place) both finished individually among the field's top-20 golfers.
Founded in 1893, Montclair Golf Club is considered to be the 13th oldest golf club in the nation with over 125 years of tradition. Montclair Golf Club was recognized in 2009 as a Platinum Club of America and one of the top-100 country clubs nationally. In 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 MGC was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Emerald Club of the World award, as determined by the annual Distinguished Clubs of the World award program conducted by Board Room magazine, one of the most respected trade publications serving private Clubs. Montclair Golf Club is a par-70, 6585-yard course.
The event marks the fifth official competition this spring before Columbia begins play in the 2019 Ivy League Championship, set for April 19-21 at Hidden Creek Golf Club at Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
