Hays' Top 15 Finish Headlines Columbia's Performance At The NCAA National Championships

Allie Hays finished 12th in the 5,000-Meter Run to lead all performances among the four Lions who competed in Austin, Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — Sophomore Allie Hays, with a 12th place finish in the 5,000-Meter Run, tallied the best finish for Columbia Track and Field over four days (June 5-8) that saw senior Alek Sauer, junior Daniel Igbokwe and senior Brian Zabilski all compete for the Lions in the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Hays finished her race in 16:19.45, to finish inside the top 15 at what was the sophomore's first career NCAA National Championship appearance. Sauer, running the 800-Meters, ran his race in 1:51.42 (20th), Igbokwe, in the triple jump, hit a mark of 15.14m (24th) and Zabilski, taking part in the 5,000-Meter Run, came in 20th with a time of 14.29.13.
