No. 8 Lions Fall To No. 1 Harvard In CSA National Champs First Round

No. 8 Columbia Women's Squash dropped its match, 9-0, to No. 1 Harvard in the first round.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In the first round of the College Squash Association Team National Championships, No. 8 Columbia Women's Squash (9-7, 4-3 IVY) fell 9-0 to No. 1 Harvard to drop into the consolation bracket with a chance to fight back and finish top three in the country at the Brady Squash Center in New Haven, Connecticut.
 
Columbia will now face Penn, who fell, 9-0, to Trinity in the first round, on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m. in the consolation semifinals round.  A win would advance Columbia to the consolation finals and a shot at third place.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Columbia would get set wins from Bunny Fox and Jane Pincus in a tough match that saw Harvard control the action from start-to-finish.  At No. 6, Fox stole a second set win against Madeleine Chai, before dropping the next two sets to fall, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, while at No. 7, Pincus outscored Hannah Craig in the second set, 13-11, to even the action up, but Craig would get the next two sets to take the match, 11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 11-3.
