Columbia Women's Rowing announced the hiring of US Olympian and Columbia alumna Charlotte Buck as a member of the coaching staff.
NEW YORK - US Olympian Charlotte Buck '18CC has returned home, joining the Columbia Women's Rowing staff as an Assistant Rowing Coach, following a summer spent in Tokyo, Japan, rowing in the Team USA Women's Eight boat that competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Head coach Emerson Curry made the announcement on Friday, Oct. 1, and Buck joins the staff ahead of the 2021 fall season with time to prepare the squad for the 2022 spring season.
"It has been great having Charlotte back with the team," said Curry. "Her Olympic racing and junior-coaching experience have her hitting the ground running. The team will only benefit from Buck's experience on the biggest stages."

Buck, who was a First Team All-Ivy League selection in 2018; two-time First Team All-Region selection by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (2017 and 2018) and was selected to the Pocock Second Team All-America squad, brings with her Olympic experience and Ivy League experience, as she was the first Columbian Women Rower to ever row at the Olympics.
Before rowing in the Olympics, Buck rowed at the Rowers Choice Global Challenge, was a five-time Summer National Champion and sat in the boat that won the 2020 New Zealand National Champion in women's four. Shortly after graduating from Columbia she competed in 2018 World University Championships in China and earned Bronze Medal and while still wearing the Columbia blue was invited to the Women's Under-23 National Selection Camp in 2017.
Her time at Columbia was highlighted by a Bronze medal in the Varsity Eight at the Eastern Sprints, having begun as a walk-on, Buck worked her way to that V8 boat that she helped take third at the Eastern Sprints.
Buck has rowed for Vesper (club), the New York Athletic Club, West End Rowing Club and Rockland Rowing (club) where she also served on the coaching staff.
She graduated in 2018 from Columbia College with a degree in Biological Science.
