2. THE LATEST
• The Lions are coming off a weekend split at the Christmas City Classic, hosted by Lehigh. They rallied back from 13 points down at halftime to get within a bucket of undefeated Missouri with less than two minutes remaining, but fell, 87-80, on Saturday. The next day, Columbia overcame a sluggish offensive performance to defeat Rider, 63-60. First-year Kitty Henderson hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 38.8 seconds remaining.
• Columbia went 16-for-29 from 3-point land against Missouri (Nov. 27), setting a new program record for 3-pointers made in a game. In the process, the Lions also posted the seventh-highest 3-point shooting percentage for a single game in program history (.552) with a minimum of 10 makes.
• The Lions have been shooting and making triples at a furious pace all season. Entering Wednesday, they rank No. 9 in the NCAA in 3-pointers made (73), No. 10 in 3-pointers attempted (206) and No. 20 in makes per game (9.1). Columbia also shoots the 3-ball at a 35.4 percent clip, which is top 75 nationally.
4. MID-MAJOR RANKINGS
• Columbia was voted No. 11 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll. The poll is voted on by coaches from the mid-major conferences. The ranking matches Columbia's highest of the season. Three teams in the Ivy League are currently inside the Mid-Major Top 25 with Princeton (8) and Penn (9) just a few spots ahead of Columbia. The Lions made their debut in the poll the week of Nov. 16 at No. 14 after defeating Clemson, 82-78.
5. ABOUT THE BLUE HENS
• Delaware (6-1) has won five in a row after defeating Eastern Michigan and Chicago State at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Miami. Jasmine Dickey took home CAA Player of the Week accolades for the second-straight week after putting together a memorable two-game performance. She poured in a career-best 48 points against Eastern Michigan (Nov. 26) to sit second in program history in points scored in a single game and eclipse Elena Delle Donne's previous mark of 42 points scored at Hofstra back on Feb. 16, 2012. She followed by posting her third double-double of the season (23 points, 10 rebounds) against Chicago State (Nov. 27).
• The Blue Hens are coming off a 24-5, 16-2 CAA, campaign in 2020-21. They were upset by No. 3 Drexel in the CAA Championship Game but made a deep run in the WNIT, defeating Fordham, Clemson and Villanova to advance to the semifinals. Their run came to end at the hands of eventual champion Rice, 85-75.
• Columbia and Delaware last met exactly 12 years ago to the day of Thursday's game. The Lions won the last matchup on Dec. 2, 2009 by a score of 75-63. The Blue Hens won the only other meeting between the two programs the year prior, 62-48, in Delaware.
