FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y.—The Columbia women's tennis team opens its fall competition schedule this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday when representatives of 12 schools will travel to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the fifth annual Columbia Invitational.
Hosted by Columbia, all matches will take place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., home of the U.S. Open. More information on the center is located at

Competition begins on Friday at 9 a.m. with singles matches. Teams scheduled to compete include host Columbia, Charlotte, Cornell, Hofstra, LIU, Maryland, NJIT, Penn, St. John's, Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Yale.
There are several current COVID protocols at the BJK National Tennis Center. Spectators for the three-day event are limited to only coaches, event staff, and trainers. Masks are required by all unless currently actively playing on the court and all participants must remain socially distant.
Tournament draws and warm-up assignments will be announced on Thursday, Sept. 16.
An Intercollegiate Tennis Association sanctioned event, the Columbia Invitational will have several flights of singles and doubles competition. Schedules will be available at a later date. Each of the singles and doubles draws will feature a double elimination bracketed tournament. Updated draws will be sent out and available after the completion of each day's matches.
Columbia will open its 2021-22 season this weekend.
