CANTON, Mass.—Led by senior
Alexis Florio's seventh place performance, four Lions finished among the top-20 at the three-round Boston College Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Blue Hill Country Club.
Florio, playing just a few miles from her hometown of Cranston, R.I., shot a six-over-par 77-70-75-222 to take seventh place in the individual standings. Also standing out for the Lions were junior
Christine Shao and first-year
Taylor Zeng, who took 13
th place, and sophomore
Allison Paik, who finished in 16th. As a team, Columbia placed fifth in its season opener after combining for a 40-over-par 303-298-303-904.

In Monday's second round, Florio catapulted 25 spots up the leaderboard and found herself in fourth place at three-over-par. After she shot a 77 in the first round, which put her in 29
th place, Florio rebounded nicely by carding a career-low 70, the second lowest round in the field. On the front nine, she caught fire, hitting four birdies on holes 4, 5, 7, and 9. In Tuesday's final round, she shot a 75 to maintain top-10 status. She led the field with 12 birdies.
Competing as an individual, Shao finished in 13
th place with a 10-over-par 71-76-79-226. In the first round, she carded the field's second lowest score, a career-low tying 71, while taking advantage of four birdies and an impressive front nine which saw her shoot a 33. She concluded the event with seven birdies.
In her first collegiate competition, Zeng tied for 13
th place at 10-over-par 77-72-77-226. She was consistent as she carded only two birdies and 14 pars in recording her 72 in Monday's second round. Zeng finished with 36 pars and four birdies.
A Providence, R.I. native, sophomore
Allison Paik concluded the tourney in 16
th place at 16-over-par 76-76-75-227. Rounding out Columbia's scorers include senior
Jennifer Wang, who finished in 32
nd place at nine-over-par 73-80-79-232, and sophomore
Angela Zhang took 44
th place at 21-over-par 77-84-76-237.
Yale won the 15-team competition at 20-over-par 289-300-295-884 while Yale's Ami Gianchandani won the individual title.
Fifteen teams participated in the event including host Boston College, Albany, Boston Univ., Columbia, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, Merrimack, Monmouth, Penn State, Quinnipiac, Rollins, Sacred Heart, Siena, and Yale. The Blue Hill Country Club is a par-72, 6,137-yard golf course with a 76.2 rating and 136 slope.
