NEW YORK — With eyes on the 2022 season, Columbia Women's Rowing has announced the addition of 14 incoming student athletes as part of the Class of 2025 as Head Coach
Emerson Curry and his staff has been busy strengthening the Columbia boathouse.

Within the class, three women will be attending Barnard College and one woman will be taking the role as coxswain. The incoming Lions hail from coast-to-coast and one comes from north of the border. There are 10 states represented, along with Canada, making the incoming class one from many different backgrounds with plenty of experiences to help the Lions compete for Ivy League titles in the years to come.Â

Noelle Abeyta, Columbia College (Deerfield, South Chittenden, Vermont): Abeyta earned seven letters in cross country (four) and rowing (three) at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Her brother, Nolan, currently attends and rows for Princeton and her father, Rob, ran track and cross country at Boston College.

She went with Columbia because "of the internship opportunities and the chance to go to school in an urban setting."Â She will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in economics and business management.

Isabelle Busch, Barnard College (Greenwich, Greenwich, Connecticut): Busch went to Greenwich High School, and she will be attending Barnard College because "it has the perfect balance of focused academics and rigorous athletics, all in New York City."Â Busch plans on majoring in economics.

Clara Cheng, Columbia College (Lexington, Lexington, Massachusetts): Cheng rowed for Community Rowing Inc. and during her time with that club she took first at the 2019 Head of the Fish in the Women's Eight and collected a second-place finish at the 2021 New England Youth Regionals in the Women's Four. Cheng also rowed in the Women's Eight at the 2018 Head of the Charles Regatta and finished fourth at the 2021 Youth Nationals in the Women's Four.
She has Ivy League connections running through her family, with her father having attended Princeton (Class of 1989) and her uncle going to and graduating from Harvard. Cheng decided to attend Columbia because "on the first visit to campus, the beauty and extravagance of Morningside was striking." She will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in biochemistry.

Lizzie Coyne, Columbia College (Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New York): Coyne rowed for RowAmerica Rye and sat stroke in the WV4+ that finished first at the 55th Head of the Charles. Coyne also was sitting stroke at the 2021 USRowing Youth Nationals that finished third and is a three-time NYS Champion (2018-19, 2021).
Coyne has Columbia history in her family as her mother and father graduated '96GSB and her grandfather graduated '51SEAS and '53SEAS. She received recruiting attention from Cornell and Georgetown, but went with Columbia "because of the tight knit, yet competitive team environment with an amazing coaching staff." She will enroll in Columbia College.

Alex Crow, Columbia College (Moorestown, Moorestown, New Jersey): Crow rowed in the Varsity Eight sophomore through senior years and earned two letters in soccer at Moorestown High School in Moorestown, New Jersey, where in the Women's Youth Eight, she finished as the No. 2 high school (No. 1 public school) in the country at the USRowing Youth Nationals. Winning a silver (2021) and bronze (2019) medal at the Philadelphia PSRA City Championships in the Women's V8, Crow was also a 2021 Women's V8 silver medalist at Stotesbury.Â

A U23 Women's 4+ finalist at the 2021 USRowing Club Nationals, she also held the high school 2K record, set during senior year.Â
Crow has a rich athletic and Columbia tradition with her father Michael playing football at Columbia from 1988-90 and graduating '92SEAS, her uncle Denis Bohn playing soccer and basketball at Columbia from 1994-96 ('97CC) and her mother Shirley playing lacrosse at Muhlenberg College from 1990-93. Crow decided to attend Columbia because of "the level of academics and all the opportunities the school offers me along with the experience of living in New York City and she plans on enrolling in Columbia College.

Chloe Deitz, COX, Barnard College (Woodrow Wilson, Dallas, Texas): Deitz served as the coxswain for the Dallas United Crew and attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. She took first at the 2021 Central Youth Regional Championship in the Women's V8+ and V4+ and in the Women's V4+, took 10th place at the 2021 Youth National Championships.

Deitz finished second at the 2018 Central Youth Regional Championship in the the Women's V8+ and V4+, collected a third place finish in the Women's U17 4+ at the 2019 Central Youth Regional Championships and was named the Dallas United Crew team captain from 2019-21.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude and is a IB Diploma recipient. Deitz decided to attend Barnard because "the community is one that uplifts women and academically challenges its students" and plans on majoring in biology.

Esme Dodge, Columbia College (Belmont, Belmont, Massachusetts): Dodge rowed with Community Rowing Inc., and she finished second (2021) and third (2019) in the 8+ at the Northeast Regionals, took first in the Youth 8+ at the 2019 Head of the Fish and was a member of the boat that finished first at the 2019 National Championships in the U17 4x and second in the U17 8+ at those same National Championships. She took eighth place at the 2019 Head of the Charles in the 8+ and finished fourth at the 2021 Youth Nationals in the 8+.
Dodge chose to attend Columbia because "of the unique academic and athletic challenge it provides."Â She will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in biology.

Celeste Funari Muse, Columbia College (The Shipley School, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania): Muse was a 2018 City Champion in JV 2x, a 2017 City Champion in the Novice 2x and qualified and competed in the final rounds of both the Nationals and Stotesbury twice in both the JV 2x and JV 4x. She was voted the MIP of Varsity Crew in ninth grade.
Muse brings with her an Ivy League history in the family, as father, John, attended and graduated from Cornell in 1985 and her grandmother attended Princeton. She became interested in Columbia. Because of her "love for Allen Ginsburg and learning that he attended Columbia" and will enroll in Columbia College.

Melisa Isado, Columbia College (Bishop Strachan School, Brampton, Ontario, Canada): Isado rowed and did jumps on the track & field team at Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, along with taking part in crew. She finished second at the 2019 Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Junior Women's Double (stroke), was second in the Junior Women's Quad at the 2019 South Niagara Regatta and clocked a third-place finish at the 2019 U17 Ontario ERG Championships.

Isado also qualified for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) in the triple jump and finished third at the 2018 OFSAAÂ in the triple jump.
Isado received recruiting attention from Penn but came to Columbia "to get the perfect balance of academics and rowing, along with the unmatched diversity in New York City."Â She will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in neuroscience and behavior.

Emily Kilroy, Columbia College (West Morris Mendham, Mendham, New Jersey): Kilroy wasa member of Row New Jersey and Atlanta Juniors, where she finished first in the Mid-Atlantic region in the 4+ (2021) and came in first at the 2018 Atlanta ERG Sprints. Kilroy clocked a first-place finish in the 2019 U19 Women's 8+ at the USRowing National Championships, crossed the line in first place in the Women's 4x at the 2019 USRowing U19 National Championships and placed high nationally in the girls 2- and 4+.Â
Kilroy's aunt, Kristen, attended and graduated from Teacher's College, giving her some Columbia ties. She went with Columbia because she "really liked the team environment and the core curriculum Columbia offers" and she will enroll in Columbia College.

Talia Koch, Columbia College (Harvard-Westlake School, Los Angeles, California): Koch spent time rowing for California Yacht Club, where she rowed stroke in the women's 2x and 4x. She finished first at the 2019 Regionals, clocked a third-place finish in the Women's 2x at the 2019 Head of the Charles and set the 2x course record at the San Diego Fall Crew Class, the Long Beach Sprints and the Head of the Marina.
Her mother, Illana, graduated from Columbia Class of 1989, giving yet another incoming Lion some Columbia connections. She received recruiting attention from Penn and Brown but went with Columbia because "of the chance to be challenged both academically and athletically." Koch will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in either computer science or neuroscience.

Gabriella Sullivan, Columbia College (Kent School, Portland, Oregon): Sullivan rowed for the Kent School Boat Club, and she was a multi letter winner in crew, cross country, volleyball and swimming at Kent School. She finished third at the 2019 NEIRAs in the 1V, recorded a pair of first place finishes at the 2019 Reading Regatta in the J16 4+ and at the 2019 Henley Women's Regatta she finished second in the J16 4+.

Brooke Talley, Columbia College (St. Francis Catholic, Sacramento, California): Talley spent time rowing for Capital Crew and ran track, swam and played soccer at Saint Francis Catholic High School in Sacramento, California.Â
Talley came to Columbia because "of the outstanding education and community."Â She will enroll in Columbia College and plans on majoring in political science.

Katherine Taylor, Barnard College (St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago, Illinois): Taylor rowed for Penn AC, where she finished first in the 8+ and 4+ at the 2021 Independence Day Regatta and clocked a third-place finish in the 4+ at the 2021 Summer Nationals.Â
Yet another incoming Lion with Columbia ties, Taylor's mother, Maria, graduated from Columbia Law Class of 1994. Her father, John, rowed at Georgetown and graduated Class of 1989, giving her an Ivy League rowing background. She decided to attend Barnard because "the realization came that Barnard was the place to go and spend the next four years, due to the support from the teachers and the ability to row for Columbia."
