Columbia has moved its home meet against Cornell to Friday at noon due to inclement weather.
NEW YORK -- Columbia men's swim and dive continues its three-meet home stand on Friday, hosting the Cornell Big Red at Percy Uris Natatorium at noon. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the meet has been moved to Friday due to an expected snow storm. The Lions look to rebound off a pair of losses last week to Patriot League contenders Army (126-174) and Navy (131-169).
Columbia will continue to operate under a limited spectator policy, notably requiring a pass list for all swim contests. Spectator and venue policies can be found on GoColumbiaLions.com.
Last weekend, Head Coach Jim Bolster's program was headlined by senior Jonas Kistorp who touched the wall first in consecutive 50 free events. Kyle Won and Josh Cho impressed in the 200 back as the underclassmen alternated between first and second place finishes at the pair of meets.
Under the direction of Scott Donie, Columbia's divers produced a dominant weekend. Jonathan Suckow extended his dual meet undefeated streak another two competitions, most notably at Army where the junior set a pair of Crandall Pool records. Against Navy, teammate Casey Fellows earned a second place result off the 3 meter board while classmate Nick Leavell took second in the 1 meter event.
Cornell will arrive in Morningside Heights (1-6, 0-6 Ivy) following a 114-186 loss to Brown. Despite the defeat, individual Bears excelled, most notably senior distance specialist Jake Lawson. Lawson's victories in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events accounted for two of Cornell's five overall victories. After swimming the anchor leg of the Big Red's 200 medley-winning relay team, Sebastian Wolff won the 50 free ahead of teammate Ian Mackey in second.
This season, Cornell's divers have been paced by senior Jameson Crandell. The runner-up on both the one and three meter springboards last week, Crandell has experience competing at the Ivy League Championships doing so in his first two years with the Bears.
