NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Winta Tewolde and
Shivani Amineni qualified for the 2022 ITA Fall National Championships after advancing to the final round of doubles at the ITA Super Regionals on Monday afternoon.
The singles portion of the tournament began on Friday. Three Lions:
Winta Tewolde,
Sophia Wang, and
Anna Zhang all competed on the first day. Zhang defeated her Rhea Shrivastava of Yale in the first round before falling to Miyuka Kimoto of Syracuse.
Doubles play began on Saturday with Tewolde and Amineni besting Erechtechenko and Oyama from LIU. The duo then topped Nielson and Delucas from St. John's. A win over Kimoto and Kozyreva of Syracuse moved the Lions' pair to the finals for a matchup with Wei and Uchijim of Temple University.
Temple was victorious, but Amineni and Tewolder received a bid for the finals slated to begin on November 2 in San Diego, Calif.
