Volleyball Concludes Season at Home with Pride & Senior Night

NEW YORK — Columbia volleyball will be closing out its season this weekend with back-to-back matches at home. The Lions will host Princeton (19-3, 11-1 Ivy) Friday night at 7 p.m. for its Pride Game. Saturday, the Lions will celebrate their senior class before taking on Penn (2-20, 1-11 Ivy) at 5 p.m.

PRIDE NIGHT:
As part of its Pride Night on Friday, the first 200 fans will receive "PROUD" bracelets. The team will also be wearing "PROUD" shirts for warm-ups.
SENIOR NIGHT:
Columbia (5-16, 2-10 Ivy) will honor the senior class of Saj McBurrows, Vanessa Pan, Pierce Woodall, Noelle Foster, Kiara Robichaud and Mckenzy Metter. All six Lions came to the team in 2019 are were four-year members of the program.
LAST TIME OUT:
Columbia is coming off of a split last weekend, defeating Harvard Friday night in Cambridge, 3-1, but falling to Dartmouth the next night in New Hampshire, 3-1. In the win over the Crimson, Noelle Foster posted a season-high 17 kills and hit .325 on the night. Helping to bolster the attack were Saj McBurrrows' 13 kills and Eva Atkins' seven kills and .455 hitting percentage. Aidan Connor also eclipsed the .400 mark and was a force at the net all night with nine blocks.
The Lions narrowly missed out on the weekend sweep on Saturday. After winning the first set, 25-18, they had a chance to go up two sets but lost the last three points to drop the second, 28-26. The Big Green easily took the third and came back from 21-19 down to win the fourth, 25-23. Foster led the attack with 11 kills, while Kiara Robichaud posted a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs. Vanessa Pan led the ground effort with 13 digs.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
On the season, Princeton is 19-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play. The Tigers are tied for first in the conference alongside Yale. Middle blocker Lucia Scalamandre will be the one Columbia's back row will need to stay on their toes for, boasting 166 kills on this season alone.
Penn is last in the conference standings, only having two wins overall — one of which was in conference play against Cornell. The Quakers are currently on a seven-game losing streak.
