Lions look to keep building tournament resume
NEW YORK – Two teams with aspirations of competing deep into March square off Saturday in Amherst, as Columbia (8-2) looks to avenge a loss from last season against reigning Atlantic 10 champion Massachusetts (8-2). Tip-off at the Mullins Center is set for 12 noon ET.

WHAT TO KNOW:
FIVE IN A ROW
• Columbia enters Saturday on a five-game winning streak, which is its longest since winning a program-record eight consecutive games last season. Last year's eight-game winning streak (Dec. 13 - Feb. 4) started just after Columbia's 87-75 loss to the Minutewomen in New York.

• The Lions are coming off an, 84-68, victory at Stony Brook. All five Columbia starters scored in double figures, led by Jaida Patrick (21) and Kaitlyn Davis (19). Patrick scored 13 first-quarter points, while Davis pushed the Lions through the second half with a dozen. All five Columbia starters average double-figure scoring this season. ROAD WARRIORS
• Columbia is 5-1 in true road games to start the season. Last year, the Lions went an incredible 12-1 in away games to boast one of the top-five road records in the country. If you go back to the 2019-20 season, the Lions are 21-2 in their last 23 true road games. Their only two losses came at Princeton and Iowa State.
OUTSIDE "HSU"-TERS
• Columbia entered the week ranked No. 1 in the NCAA in 3-pointers made (100) and made per game (11.1).
• The Lions have made 10 or more threes in six of its 10 games so far this season.
• The Lions made a program record 18 threes (18-42) earlier this year at then-No. 7 Iowa State.
• Abbey Hsu ranks No. 8 in the NCAA in total threes (30) and No. 23 in makes per game (3.00).
• Columbia is 38.7 percent from the outside, ranking No. 17 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the Ivy League. MAKING A SPLASH
• Columbia earned a NET ranking of No. 31 in the first published rankings of the 2022-23 season (Dec. 5)
• Columbia's NET rating was its highest in program history.
• Columbia has the highest NET rating in the Ivy League.
• Columbia owns the second-highest NET rating among all mid-major schools (Gonzaga, 20).
• Columbia (31) and Princeton (74) were the two teams from the Ivy League inside the Top 100.
• Penn (114) and Harvard (119) were also inside the Top 150. QUICK HITS
• Columbia starting five of Abbey Hsu (16.7), Jaida Patrick (12.8), Kaitlyn Davis (11.8), Hannah Pratt (11.6) and Kitty Henderson (10.8) all average double figures scoring. Hsu ranks No. 2 in the Ivies and top 100 nationally.
• Kaitlyn Davis (7.6) ranks No. 4 in the Ivy League in rebounding.
• Kitty Henderson ranks No. 2 in the Ivies in assists (51) and assists per game (5.1). She is also top 25 in the NCAA in assists per game. She, Davis (3.0), Patrick (2.4) and Hsu (2.4) all rank top 15 in the Ivy League.
• Henderson's 1.7 assist/turnover ratio ranks No. 3 in the Ivy League
• Kaitlyn Davis (.500) ranks No. 3 in the Ivies among qualified players in field goal percentage. Pratt (.486), Henderson (.457) and Hsu (.430) rank top 12 in the Ivy League.
• Abbey Hsu (.429) and Hannah Pratt (.429) are tied for third in the Ivies in 3-point percentage.
• Davis (0.9), Patrick (0.8) and Pratt (0.7) are top 10 in the Ivy League in blocks.
• Columbia has won each of its last 21 games when committing fewer fouls than the opponent.
SATURDAY'S OPPONENT
• The Minutewomen are receiving four votes in the latest USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll. They currently sit in first the Atlantic 10 conference and 40th in the NCAA in scoring offensively, averaging 77.3 points per game while tying for fourth in defensive scoring with a 65.8 average. The team is also third with a plus-11.5 scoring margin.
• Sam Breen is second in the conference in scoring with 18.2 ppg, and third in rebounds with 9.4 per game. She places first in total boards with 94 and second in offensive rebounds (34), behind fellow teammate Angelique Ngalakulondi. In the nation, she sits in 11th in rebounds and tied for ninth with five double-doubles this season. Meanwhile, Sydney Taylor sits third in scoring (18.0 ppg, 162pts) in the A-10 and first with 3.2 3FGs per game. Taylor is tied for 12th in the nation with her 3FGs per game and tied for third with her three-pointers made (29 total).
