Lions Drop 4-0 Match to Princeton in ECAC Championship

Columbia will conclude ECAC Championship play against Penn in the Third Place Match on Sunday at 2 p.m.
ITHACA, N.Y.— The Columbia women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Princeton in the ECAC Women's Indoor Semifinal Saturday at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center. With the loss, Columbia (5-2) will face Penn in the Third Place match on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Princeton claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Columbia's Akanksha Bhan and Anna Zhang began the day with a 6-2 win over Nathalie Rodilosso and Brianna Shvets at No. 1, but the Tigers responded with a 6-1 win by Nena Velaga and Stephanie Schrage at No. 3 doubles over Clarine Lerby and Sophia Strugnell, and Maia Sung and Grace Joyce registered a 6-4 win over Columbia's Jennifer Kerr and Shivani Amineni.
The Tigers won singles matches at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 positions. Schrage won a 6-0, 6-1 match over Rachele Rimondini at No. 5 to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead, No. 24 ranked Victoria Hu followed with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) decision at No. 1 over Akanksha Bhan, and No. 63 ranked Shvets claimed a hard-fought 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Kerr at No. 2. The other singles matches were all closely contested.
