Women's Tennis to Compete at ECAC Championship

Lions enter weekend as the two-time defending ECAC Tournament champions after titles in 2019 and 2020; Lions play Yale on Friday at 11 a.m.
ITHACA, N.Y.— As back-to-back defending Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions in both 2019 and 2020, the Columbia women's tennis program will compete this weekend at the 2022 ECAC Women's Indoor Tennis Championship Friday through Sunday at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center.
The Lions enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will open ECAC Championship play against No. 4 seed Yale on Friday at 11 a.m. A tournament bracket and schedule is posted at this link and updated ECAC information can be accessed at this link.
The ECAC Championship event will run Friday through Sunday and feature 12 matches over the three-day weekend. The teams will compete in a bracketed tournament featuring all eight Ivy League teams with championship and consolation brackets. Each team will play three matches and will be seeded. Along with Columbia, the field comprises of Brown, host Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, and Yale.
Competition begins the first round matchup on Friday morning at 8 a.m.
Head Coach Ilene Weintraub and the Lions have won four ECAC titles in program history: as hosts in 2014, 2016, 2019, and as hosts again in 2020. In 2020, Columbia claimed the title with consecutive victories over Brown (4-0), Harvard (4-1), and Yale (4-3) in the championship match.
Columbia (4-1) enters the weekend after claiming back-to-back wins over Colorado (4-2) and Florida International (4-2).
