Lions Complete Three-Round Grand Canyon Invitational

Daniel Core leads Lions with 46th place finish after shooting 68 in second round.
PHOENIX, Ariz.—Led by Daniel Core's 46th place finish, the Columbia men's golf team concluded the three-round Grand Canyon Invitational in 21st place at 30-over-par 295-294-293-882 Tuesday at the GCU Championship Golf Course. Monday's second round was halted early due to darkness. The teams completed the second round early on Tuesday morning before finishing the third round.
Core concluded the event with a three-over-par 74-68-74-216. He carded 10 birdies overall and caught fire in the second round with a 68. He finished the second round with birdies on holes 4, 10, and 14, along with 15 pars.
Following Core was Nathan Han, who finished in 54th place at four-over-par 71-71-75-217. Han finished Monday with three holes remaining and shot even. He concluded the first round with a 71 after carding five birdies on holes 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16, then followed that up with an identical 71.
Also scoring for Columbia was DJ Francey, who took 89th with a 10-over-par 75-76-72-223, Wyatt McGovern, who finished in 106th place at 15-over-par 75-79-74-228, and Pat Healy, who took 113th at 19-over-par 80-79-73-232.
Competing as individuals for the Lions were Alvin Kwak, who finished in 89th place at 10-over-par 72-75-76-223 and William Sung, who took 118th at 27-over-par 80-84-76-240.
Host Grand Canyon won the team competition with an 18-under-par 279-269-286-834. UT-Arlington's Kyle Cox won the individual title at 11-under-par 66-68-68-202.
Twenty-two teams competed in the event including host Grand Canyon, TCU, Hawaii, North Dakota State, Southern Mississippi, Sacramento State, Valpo, Pacific, Drake, UT Arlington, Creighton, Omaha, Columbia, California Baptist, Abilene Christian, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Northern Colorado, Fresno State, UMKC, Incarnate Word, and Cal State Fullerton.
The GCU Championship Golf Club is a 7,148-yard course with a par of 71 on day one and a 7,202-yard course with par 71 on day two.
