Payton Lill found the back of the net twice as Columbia lacrosse (2-6, 0-2 Ivy) fell to Cornell (4-3, 1-1), 8-23, in Ithaca. Lill was joined in scoring by teammates
Kate Kelly,
Kayla Nitahara,
Rachel Graff,
Katie Lutz, Katie Cunning, and
Lizzie Kaplan who produced one goal a piece. Both Lill and Cunning went one for one on free-position attempts.
Lutz and
Lauren Yun secured four draw controls each, contributing to the Lions' 13 draw controls on the day.
In net, senior
Ryan Schlageter earned the start, making two saves while collecting a team-best four draw controls. First-year
Simone Koryszewski appeared in 28 minutes of relief, turning away three shots on goal.
Cornell was paced by Amanda Cramer who recorded four goals on the day while dishing out an assist. Teammate Katie Castiello found the back of the net thrice while passing a trio of assists for a game-best six total points.
Columbia returns home Friday, March 25 to host Ivy League rival, Princeton, at 7:00 P.M..
