Suckow and Demir Set to Contend in NCAA Championships

The Division I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships will run from March 23-26.

NEW YORK -- Junior diver Jonathan Suckow and first-year swimmer Demirkan Demir will represent Columbia at the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Swim & Dive Championships in Atlanta, GA from March 23-26. Suckow will compete in the one and three meter events while Demir will race in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Streaming and live result information will be provided on GoColumbiaLions.com and @culionsmsd on Instagram. The event will be broadcast on ESPN3. Preliminary heats will compete at 10:00 A.M. each day while finals are scheduled for 6:00 P.M..

Suckow is a three-time NCAA qualifier in both springboard events. In 2019, he took fifth in the 3M event en route to earning First Team All-America honors as a sophomore. Boasting the Championship record in both boards, Suckow is a six-time Ivy League Champion and 2022 3M Zone Diving Champion. He has both set, and shattered, Columbia pool and program records recording his best mark's in the Lions' dual-meet finale against Dartmouth on February 5th.

"It is an honor to represent Columbia on the biggest stage," noted head diving coach, and three-time NCAA champion, Scott Donie.

Demir collected the first Ivy League title of his fledgling career in Februrary, winning the 100 breast after recording a program-best time of 52.37. The rookie also holds the Columbia record in the 200 breast, having bested the previous mark at the Big Al Invitational in December (1:54.28).
