PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia softball's Abby Stuart was named Ivy League Player of the Week for games played March 21-27, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Stuart hit .429 (6-14) with two home runs, three runs scored and six RBI across a 2-2 week for the Lions, which included an Ivy League series victory at Cornell. The highlight of Stuart's week came on Saturday. With her performance, Stuart moved into the Ivy League lead in RBI (16), and is also No. 2 in homers (5), No. 3 in batting average (.358), No. 2 in total bases (40), No. 5 in slugging (.597), No. 5 in runs scored (12) and No. 2 in hits (24).
Additionally, first-year Jordan Hill earned a spot on the Ivy League Honor Roll. Hill was impressive all week, tossing 14 2/3 innings to the tune of a 0.95 ERA. She struck out 13 and pitched her first collegiate shutout on Friday, one-hitting the Big Red in a five-inning, 11-0, victory. Hill retired 15 of the 17 batters she faced in the one-hitter and struck out a career-high six.
Columbia will play its next four games at home, beginning Wednesday with a local midweek clash against Manhattan. First pitch from the Columbia Softball Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
