HANOVER, N.H. -- The Columbia volleyball team could not secure its second Ivy League victory in a row, losing to Dartmouth on the road in straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-15).
The first set started tight, with Harper Justema and Eva Atkins smacking two kills each despite Dartmouth taking a 9-8 lead. The Big Green used three, 3-0 runs to build on their lead and eventually closed things out on an attack error.
The Lions looked to be firmly in control of set two, leading 22-17 after a monster block from Soah Franklin and Justema. From that point on, however, Dartmouth took full control. The Big Green would score the next eight points to come from behind and take the second set.
Dartmouth at that point had all the momentum, and the Lions would never be able to regain their footing in the match. A monster kill from Maria Milisa midway through the set wasn't enough as the Big Green coasted to a 25-15 win to sweep the match.
Justema led the Lions with 11 kills in the match. Van der Heide collected 22 assists. Anna Gioradini and Delaney Seaman each had nine assists.
Columbia is back at it tomorrow, taking on Harvard on the road at 5:00 p.m.
