NEW YORK – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams will get the season started Sunday when they host Virginia. The matches begin at StreetSquash in Harlem at 12 p.m. ET.
The women's team enters the season ranked No. 10 after finishing last season with a 5-8 overall record and 3-3 mark in conference action. The women took sixth place at the CSA Nationals last season.
Individually, Simmi Chan became the first national champion in program history as she defeated Cornell's Sivasangari Subramaniam in the Ramsay Cup final, 2-11, 12-10, 11-5, 13-11. With the win, Chan capped off a perfect 16-0 collegiate season as a sophomore. Additionally, Chan earned First Team All-American recognition for her success.
