
No. 11 Lions Outlast Santa Clara

Columbia improves to 8-1 overall.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 11 Columbia men's tennis team got its spring break trip started off with a 4-3 win at Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon. The Lions are now 8-1 overall this season.
The Lions continued their dominance in doubles as the teams of Max Westphal and Michael Zheng and Ishaan Ravichander and Henry Ruger each notched wins to secure the doubles point. Westphal and Zheng defeated Santa Clara's Arthur Neuhaus and Guillaume Dalmasso, 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles. Ravichander and Ruger clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Jack Pulliam and Santiago Hinojosa at the No. 3 spot.
Columbia carried the momentum over to singles action as the Lions captured the first two matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead over Santa Clara.
No. 16 Zheng posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Neuhaus in the No. 1 singles. Hugo Hashimoto followed that up with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 4 spot against Mann Shah.
Santa Clara answered back with two singles wins to trim into the Columbia lead. Hinojosa earned 6-4, 6-2 win over Ruger in the No. 6 singles. Dalmasso then defeated No. 59 Roko Horvat in a 6-4, 6-4 match.
Nicolas Kotzen clinched the Columbia win in back-to-back matches as he defeated Pulliam in a 6-3, 6-4 match in the No. 5 singles. Christian Lerby finished off the match as he defeated No. 75 Max Westphal, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
