
Track & Field Completes UConn Northeast Challenge and Larry Ellis Invite

Julia Jordahl-Henry & Devon Davey win events for the Lions
NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team had a busy weekend, sending student-athletes to compete in both the UConn Northeast Challenge, hosted by the Huskies, and the Larry Ellis Invite, hosted by Princeton. Both the men and women had solid performances, with both teams securing a first place victory and multiple top-five finishes.
Competition began on Friday morning with the UConn Northeast Challenge in Storrs, Connecticut. The highlight on the women's side came in the high jump, where twin sisters Julia & Anna Jordahl-Henry finished in first and second place, respectively, both with marks of 1.75m. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Devon Davey was victorious in the 400m with a time of 47.12.
Other top performers included Ian Noble who took second in the 3000 steeplechase (9:31.43) and Sydney Goldson who secured a silver medal in the 400m with a time of 54.40.
Meanwhile, the Lions also sent some student athletes to compete in the Larry Ellis Invite in Princeton, New Jersey. The highest finisher for the women was Olivia Schmitt who finished 12th in the 800m run with a time of 2:08.34. The highest finishers for the men were Matt Gatune who came away with 15th place in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.42 and Jack Bennett who placed 19th in the 1500m run with a time of 3:48.66.

Next weekend, the Lions will compete in both the Mark Young Invitational hosted by Yale and the Virginia Challenge. Competition will begin Friday, April 21 at 10 a.m. in Charlottesville, Virginia.
