Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 48 Princeton For Ivy League Match

NEW YORK – Coming off a 5-2 win at Cornell to open Ivy League play on March 25, the Lions are back in action at home Friday afternoon as they welcome No. 48 Princeton to the Milstein Family Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. first serve.
 
The Lions sit at 7-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play entering the weekend. Columbia will host Princeton before traveling to Penn to close out the weekend Sunday.
 
Columbia enters the weekend with back-to-back wins against Florida Atlantic and Cornell. The Lions have won five of their last six matches, only stumbling in a close 4-3 loss at No. 35 Florida International. The Lions defeated Hofstra, Fordham, and Binghamton to close out February and get the month of March started.
 
Anna Zhang has played the top spot in singles in almost every dual match this spring as she has compiled a 4-6 record. In doubles, Zhang and Wang have teamed up at the No. 1 spot and are 9-2 overall this spring.
 
Winta Tewolde has found some success in the middle part of the singles lineup with a 6-2 overall record this spring. She picked up a win in the No. 3 singles against Cornell. Rachele Rimondini is 5-3 in the dual season. She won singles matches in the No. 4 spot in Columbia's last two wins against FAU and Cornell.
 
Clarine Lerby has emerged as the spring season as progressed as she is 6-1 overall in singles action. Lerby has wins at the No. 6 spot in Columbia's last three matches. Michelle Xu has also been an important part of the singles lineup as she is 4-2 this spring playing in the four, five, and six spots.
 
First serve for Friday's match against Princeton is set for 1 p.m. Arrive early for free pizza provided by Columbia Women's Tennis.
