Men's and Women's Track & Field Place First at Mets Outdoor Championship

Men's 4x100m relay team sets new program record

NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team continued its successful start to its outdoor season on Saturday at the Mets Outdoor Championships. Both the men and the women finished in first place in the competition held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island. This is the first time in program history both teams won the competition at the same time.

The men finished the day with 162 points, while the women finished the afternoon with 150 points to lead the pack.

The highlight of the competition came in the men's 4x100m relay, when the team of Chris Balthazar, Jahi Hernandez, Devon Davey, and Max Comfere finished in first place with a time of 41.09. This time was good for a new program record.

In addition, Victoria Patterson won the 3000m Steeple Chase with a time of 9:56.86. This time was good for eighth in the nation. Elia Ton-That came in right behind her in second place with a time of 10:09.06, good for 18th in the nation and the top time for a first-year runner.

On the men's side, Justin O'Toole won the 800m run with a time of 1:48.58. This time was the 20th highest in the nation. Obiora Okeke and Yoosang Kim finished first and second in the men's shot put, continuing the run of success for Columbia in the shot put event.
