WOMEN'S TENNIS
The Lions will compete at the ITA All Americans and the Notre Dame Invite starting this weekend. Anna Zhang and Sophia Wang will head to Cary, North Carolina for the ITA All Americans starting Saturday. Zhang will play in the singles qualifiers to try and earn a spot in the main draw. Zhang will also pair up with Wang in the doubles qualifiers as they also look for a spot in the main draw. Winta Tewolde, Fatima Keita, Sophia Strugnell, Rachele Rimondini, Carolyn Brodsky, Clarine Lerby, Julia Haynes and Salma Farhat will make the trip to South Bend, Indiana for the Notre Dame Invite starting Friday.

The Lions open up Ivy League play Friday night at Princeton in front of a live, televised audience on SNY. Columbia is coming off a 30-0 shutout victory over Georgetown to retain the Lou Little Trophy. Caden Bell accounted for three scores, Joey Giorgi ran for 120 yards and JJ Jenkins posted 119 yards receiving to go with a touchdown. The Lions will be in search of their first road victory over the Tigers since 2017.

The women's golf team takes part in its second tournament of the fall season this weekend, competing at the Yale Invitational at Yale Golf Club. The 54-hole event begins Saturday with the first two rounds, followed by the final round on Sunday. The Lions started off the fall campaign two weekends ago at the Princeton Invitational. Junior Angela Zhang led Columbia with an individua tie for 32nd in the 72-player field. She rallied in round three with an even-par 71, playing her final seven holes at 2-under par. First-year Ava Zeng and senior Allison Paik also finished in the top 40. Live tracking can be followed throughout the tournament on Golfstat.

The Lions are back at it on Saturday, competing at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh in Pennsylvania. The 49th iteration of the eventย will once again be one of the largest in the country, featuring 450 college and high school teams with a combined 5,515 entries. Last year, the women finished 25th in the event, while the men finished 31st, and Columbia will be trying to improve upon that placement this year. The Lions are coming off a strong showing in the Virginia Invitational being led byย Phoebe Andersonย who finished in fourth place in the women's 5k with a time ofย 16:23.80.ย Elia Ton-Thatย also had a solid showing in her first meet of the season, finishing 53rd in the competitive field with a time ofย 17:11.90.ย Talha Syedย paced the men with a 93rd place finish, clocking in with a time ofย 24:22.40 in the 8k.ย

The Lions head to Connecticut to take on Northeast Conference member Fairfield following a home match with Penn on Friday afternoon. Columbia is 12-5 all-time against the Stags and has won six of the last seven contests against Fairfield. The last five matches between the two teams have been decided by one goal. Columbia earned a 2-1 victory in the most recent meeting in 2021 at Fairfield. The Lions will look for their second road win of the season on Sunday.
In last Sunday's thrilling 1-0 victory over Rider, captain Lindsey Yu netted herย second game-winning goal of the season. Goalkeeper Katie Wimmer and Columbia's defense battled rainy and windy conditions to earn the team's first shutout of the year.ย Heading into Friday's match with Penn,ย Yu leads the Lions in points (11) and is tied for the team lead in goals (4) with Mckenzie Bloom. Yu is also tied with Anabelle Brodeur for the team lead in assists with three.

After hosting Harvard this Saturday for an Ivy League contest, the Lions (2-3-2, 0-1-0 Ivy)ย will be hitting the road for a midweek non-conference duel against NYC neighbor St. John's (4-3-2, 0-1-1 BIG EAST).ย Entering this weekend, theย Lions have seen much success at home (2-0-1) but are still in search of their first victory on the road (0-3-1). Tuesday will mark the fourth consecutive competition season that Columbia and St. John's will go head to head. The Lions came away victorious last year at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, 1-0, on a 27th-minute goal by Joao Lima. The victory improved Columbia's all-time series record over the Red Storm to 8-3-0.ย
