Men's Swimming and Diving Welcomes Navy to Uris Natatorium

NEW YORK — The Columbia men's swimming and diving team will take a break from Ivy League competition this weekend to take on the Navy Midshipmen. The Lions will host Navy on Friday, January 26 at Uris Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia earned its first victory of the new year, defeating the Cornell Big Red, 165-128, last Saturday at Uris.
Stanford Li continued to dominate in the backstroke. First, he won the 100-back with a time of 49.75. He went on to win the 200-back later in the afternoon with a time of 1:47.97
Demirkan Demir was back to his old ways of dominating the breaststroke, winning the 100-breast with a time of 55.92. He also won the 200-breast with a time of 2:03.00.
Other winners for the Lions included Zion James who won the 50-free with a time of 20.83, Adam Wu who won the 200-fly with a time of 1:48.09, Zach Vasser who won the 1000-free with a time of 9:32.12, and Brian Lee who won the 100-fly with a time of 48.36.

SCOUTING NAVY
Navy enters Friday's meet with a 7-3 overall record. The Midshipmen have one common opponent with the Lions, that being Princeton. Navy also lost to the Tigers, 199-154.
The Midshipmen's most recent win came over Towson by a score of 179-116. Also coming into this week, Finn Gelbach and Jonah Harm are fresh off being named Patriot League Diver of the Week and Swimmer of the Week, respectively.
Last season, Columbia traveled to Maryland to take on Navy, where the Lions were defeated by the Midshipmen, 166.6-133.5. A recap of this meet can be found HERE.
ON DECK
The Lions will close out the regular season with an Ivy League meet against Dartmouth on Saturday, February 3. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the Lions will honor their group of seniors beforehand.
