
Squash Hosts Yale, Trinity for Weekend Slate

Columbia will face Yale Saturday before playing Trinity Sunday
NEW YORK – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams will continue their home stand this weekend by hosting Yale on Saturday and Trinity on Sunday. Competition will begin both days at 1 p.m. ET at the SL Green StreetSquash Center in Harlem.
The sixth-ranked men's team sits at 4-3 overall after losing to No. 5 Princeton and No. 1 Penn last weekend. The tough schedule will continue for the Lions this weekend with No. 3 Yale and No. 4 Trinity on the slate.
Paarth Ambani and Adam Goad registered the only wins against Princeton. Ambani battle from two games down to take a five-game thriller over Zain Ahmed, 8-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6. Goad took a two-game lead and was looking to close out the win before Federico Sosa came back to even the match and force a fifth game. Goad bounced back to take the fifth game in dominating fashion, 11-1 to secure the win.
Goad also picked up one of two wins in the match against Penn. Goad recovered to earn the win in the No. 9 spot after losing the first game against Hau Cui, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6, 13-11. Rutvik Rau recorded Columbia's other win against the Quakers with a tough, 12-14, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 win over Rehan Luthra at No. 8
The 10th-ranked women's team is now 2-5 overall after falling to No. 3 Princeton and No. 4 Penn last weekend. On the women's side, Yale enters the weekend ranked No. 7, while Trinity is ranked No. 2.
Simmi Chan notched the lone victory of the day for Columbia in the 8-1 loss to Princeton. Chan defeated Zeina Zein, 11-8, 11-3, 11-13, 11-9 for her sixth consecutive win this season.
Chan kept her perfect record intact against Penn. The reigning College Squash Association (CSA) National Champion dominated in the top match, crushing Malak Taha in just 19 minutes, 11-2, 11-2, 11-3. Noruin Khalifa picked up a win in the No. 4 match when her opponent, Jana Dweek, forfeited due to injury.
