Katie Wimmer records 300th save

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey fell to No. 9 Harvard on Friday afternoon, 9-3, from Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Goalkeeper Katie Wimmer had five stops in the cage and surpassed 300 career saves in the game. Wimmer is the fourth goalkeeper in program history to reach the 300 saves mark.

The Lions (3-7, 1-3) took a 1-0 lead on Mckenzie Bloom's first goal of the season with 24 seconds left in the first period. Harvard (10-1, 4-0) then scored seven straight goals.

Lizzie Adams netted Columbia's second goal of the day at 11:22 of the third quarter. Lindsey Yu rounded out the Lions' scoring on a successful penalty shot late in the fourth frame.

Columbia had six shots on goal. Jacinta Solari Etcheberry led the way with a pair of shots on frame, while Adams, Yu, Bloom, and Sophia Abate all had a shot on goal each.

Broach Foundation Match

At Friday's match, the Lions supported the Broach Foundation, a 501 C 3 non-profit charitable organization for brain cancer research. You can donate to the Broach Foundation by clicking here. Please add 'CUFH' in the notes section.

This foundation is extremely important to the Columbia field hockey family as alumni Lucy Holzinger '23BC lost her father, Rick Holzinger, as well as her uncle, to brain cancer.
