
Volleyball Welcomes Dartmouth and Harvard this Weekend

Friday is Pride Night, Saturday is First Responder Night
All fans who plan to attend any of the matches will need to use the entrance to Levien Gymnasium on 120th street.
INITIATIVES
On Friday, the Lions will be hosting Pride Night, and Columbia will up in special t-shirts that feature a rainbow Columbia logo. Pride bracelets will be handed out to spectators and staff at Levien Gymnasium throughout the night.
Saturday is First Responder Night, and the Lions will be playing in honor of all the first responders that are in attendance, in NYC, and around the world.
This entire weekend will be "8 Against Hate" Weekend across the Ivy League. 8 Against Hate is a league-wide initiative inclusive of campus programming and support for student-athletes, coaches, and staff - promoting a consistent and unwavering message against all forms of discrimination and hate.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Lions hosted a single game at Levien as Cornell made the trip to New York City.
The first set was tightly contested until the Big Red used a 4-0 run to help take a 1-0 lead. Cornell kept its foot on the gas in the second set. After Columbia scored the first two points thanks to an ace from Delaney Seaman and block from Watts and Gravlee, The Big Red went on a 4-0 run and the Lions would not see the lead again. An attack error from Cornell led to a 9-9 tie, but the Big Red would go on another 4-0 run, and then cruise to a 25-17 win. The Lions never re-gained any momentum, and Cornell went on to sweep the match.
Watts had a game-high 15 kills, while Maria Happ added five. Evie Naumann chipped in a career-high two kills. Clara Yu had a team-high 22 assists.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
Dartmouth enters the weekend with a 9-9 overall record. The Big Green are 2-6 so far in Ivy League play, with recent losses to Yale and Harvard, both in four sets.
Last season, Dartmouth finished 9-14 overall, with a 6-8 mark in the Ivy League. Earlier this year, the Big Green swept the Lions in New Hampshire.
In the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, Dartmouth was picked to finish in sixth place.
The Big Green's Kauany Gutz leads the team with 240 kills on the season.
SCOUTING HARVARD
Harvard enters the weekend with a 9-8 overall record. The Crimson are 4-4 so far in Ivy League play, with a recent win over Dartmouth but losses to Brown, Yale, and Penn.
Last season, Harvard finished 15-9 overall, with a 8-6 mark in the Ivy League. Earlier this year, the Crimson swept the Lions in Cambridge.
In the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, Harvard was picked to finish in fourth, where the Crimson finished last year and lost to Yale in the first round of the Ivy League Tournament.
Harvard's Brynne Faltinsky leads the team with 220 kills on the season.

ON DECK
The Lions hit the road next weekend for a game against Penn in Philadelphia on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and a match against Princeton on Saturday in New Jersey at 5:00 p.m.
