Jack McDaid earns Second Team nod
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia men's soccer sophomore Jack McDaid was voted Second Team All-Ivy League, while sophomore Jackson ten Oever was Honorable Mention and senior Adrien Wheaton-Schopp earned Academic All-Ivy honors. The Ivy League announced its postseason honors and awards, as voted on by the eight head coaches, Wednesday afternoon.
A newcomer to the team this season after transferring from the University of Maryland, McDaid became a staple in Columbia's Starting XI. He started 12 of the team's 14 matches, missing the final two contests only because of injury, scoring two goals and assisting another. A native of Havertown, Pennsylvania, McDaid totaled a team-high five points from a defensive midfield position, also tallying team-highs of 17 shots on eight shots on goal.
Jackson ten Oever, a defender from Brooklyn, played and started 13 of Columbia's 14 matches. He scored his first two collegiate goals this season, including a memorable 81st-minute game-winner against Yale to earn the Lions their first Ivy League victory since 2019. The goal was also the first of ten Oever's collegiate career. He went on to score another two games later at Dartmouth helping the Lions walk away with a 2-2 draw.
Adrien Wheaton-Schopp was selected as Columbia's Academic All-Ivy League honoree. Wheaton-Schopp, a senior from Bethesda, Maryland, is a political science major with a GPA north of 3.7. He will graduate this year and plans to pursue a career in journalism. Wheaton-Schopp played in 11 matches this year with three starts, scoring his first collegiate goal on his Senior Day against Brown (Nov. 3).
