NEW YORK — The Columbia women's swimming and diving team continued the 2024-25 season on Friday evening at Uris Natatorium. The Lions took on the Yale Bulldogs, with Yale emerging with a slight 178-122 victory in a very competitive meet.

Diana Caskey voiced "There were a lot of really competitive swimming events today. Our swimmers are training hard and racing well within the early part of this season." She expressed "we are excited for what's to come."
Emily MacDonald continued her stellar start to the season, winning two more individual events. The first was the 200-free with a time 1:50.85, the first individual victory for the Lions.
Towards the middle of the meet,
Emily MacDonald swam her way to an additional win in the 100 free at 50.05.
Sally Ma was not far behind and took a third place finish with a time of 52.15.
Ma would make up for that, going on to secure a win in the 50 free after touching the wall with a time of 23.51.
Ashley Hu won the Lions' final individual event of the night, the 200 breast, at a time of 2:20.90.
Natalia Diaz finished in a close second place at 2:21.37.
Columbia closed the meet by taking the final event of the night, the 200 free relay. The team of MacDonald, Ma,
Annabel Cui, and
Isabel Lee finished first with their fastest time of the season so far, 1:33.48.
As for the divers,
Valeriya Bondarenko and
Chloe Leung earned third and fourth place finishes, respectively, in the 1m dive. Bondarenko finished with a final score of 252.08. Leung ended with a score of 251.55.
"We got off to a rough start in the 3m, so it was really great to see them come back in the 1m," Head Diving Coach
Scott Donie said. "Very solid performance from both Lions in the 1m."

Columbia will be on the road competing against Harvard on Friday, November 22nd. The competition is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
