McCray becomes the second Lion first-year to pick up the award this season
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia football's Carter McCray was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after helping the Lions earn a key victory over Yale on November 1. McCray is the second Columbia first-year recognized after Keller Patterson took the honor on September 23.
The cornerback, who hails from San Antonio, made his third consecutive start and recorded three tackles. McCray helped the Lions' secondary limit the Bulldogs to a season-low 151 yards passing, and the defense limited a high-powered offense averaging over 30 points a game to just 10.
Senior wide receiver Bryson Canty, senior linebacker Anthony Roussos and sophomore placekicker Hugo Merry all earned spots on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll.
The Lions are back in action against No. 24/25 Harvard on Saturday, November 9, in Cambridge. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. on ESPN+.
