Nine Lions will shoot at the Harrisonburg regional site
NEW YORK — Columbia will compete at the 55th USA Archery Indoor Nationals this weekend. The Lions will shoot at the Harrisonburg, Virginia regional site, Saturday-Sunday, which is being hosted by James Madison University at Horizons Edge Sports Campus.
Nine Lions will compete in the event, six in recurve and three in compound. Representing Columbia in the recurve will be senior Erin White, junior Judith Gottlieb, sophomore Lillian Han, and a trio of first-years in Michelle Ahn, Eunice Choi and Emily Rosenfeld. On the compound side will be sophomore Giselle DeSousa, junior Hannah Kim and senior Jessica Kim.
"I'm excited. Our indoor season has gone well so far and I'm just hoping for a continuation of what the team has been doing," Columbia archery head coach Derek Davis said. "We had top podium finishes in Vegas and Lancaster. I don't have any expectations other than that we do our best, but I am excited about the opportunities."
Each Lion will shoot a round of 60 arrows on Saturday, followed by another round of 60 arrows on Sunday. The scores of Columbia's top two archers in compound and recurve will be combined to create a team score. The individual scores will count in both the age group of each shooter, as well as the collegiate division.
The scores from the Harrisonburg, Virginia regional site will be compared to the scores from all other regional sites to determine each shooter's and each team's placing. Final results will not be available until written records are compared to electronic scoring for clarification.
The Lions will shoot at 12 noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Fans who want to keep up with Columbia's progress can follow live scoring courtesy of Between Ends.
