Track & Field Fares Well at METS Outdoor Championships

Obiora Okeke Sets Discus Program Record in Miami
NEW YORK — The Columbia outdoor track & field team finished up at the METS Outdoor Championships hosted by Ocean Breeze at ICAHN Stadium on Randall's Island Saturday morning. The women finished in fifth place with 59 points while the men placed ninth with 27 points.
Meanwhile, a small portion of the team traveled to Miami to compete in the Miami Alunmi Invitational. Obiora Okeke had another huge performance, setting a program record in the discus throw with a mark of 52.28m.
Back in NYC, Lucy Henkel had a big day for the women notching a first-place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 4:43.75. Naomi Toft also won an event, placing first in the 800m with a time of 2:12.42.
For the men, Toby Tan led the way with a first place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.99m.

Next up for the Lions will be the UCONN Northeast Challenge which will begin on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m.
