Lightweight, Heavyweight Rowing Complete Day One of IRA National Championships

Lions advanced to four semi-finals; two boats reach finals for Saturday
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Columbia lightweight and heavyweight rowing completed day one of the 121st annual Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships at Mercer Lake on Friday.
The heavyweight varsity 8+ boat posted a fourth place finish in heat 2 with a time of 5:47.641. The crew will race in the Semi-Final 3 on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. The heavyweight varsity second 8+ boat also finished fourth in their heat, earning a spot in Saturday's Semi-Final 4 at 10:20 a.m.
Two lightweight varsity 4+ boats raced on Friday, each in Semi-Finals. In Semi-Final 2, Columbia's Varsity 4+ crew placed fourth with a time of 6:24.854. The Lions will race in Final 2 at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday.
Later on in Semi-Final 1, the Varsity 4+ crew won the race with a time of 6:24.149. That crew will race in the 1 Final on Saturday at 11:40 a.m.
