Andrea Bombace Named Assistant Softball Coach

"I am excited to welcome Andrea back to New York and to Columbia," Teague said. "I knew as soon as I spoke with Andrea that she would be a great fit to our program and add great things to our culture. She is full of energy, great ideas and takes a person first over player approach, which we highly value. We are excited to get her to campus and get Columbia Season 26 started."
Bombace, born in White Plains, New York, arrives at Morningside Heights following serving as the head coach at Dubuque in Iowa in 2024, where she coached a pair of all-conference honorees. Previously, she was an assistant coach at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York during the 2023 season, where she helped the Knights go 21-19 and post a 12-6 mark in the Skyline Conference.

"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Coach Teague and the whole athletic department for believing in my abilities and offering me this incredible opportunity. Being part of such a prestigious institution and working with a team of talented and dedicated student-athletes is a dream come true. I am eager to contribute to the continued success of the program and to help the players reach their fullest potential."
Bombace earned an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Syracuse and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Studies at Marist College before becoming a special agent with the United States Secret Service from 2020-2022. She has been involved with Cadets Player Development Academy, PA Nightmare Fastpitch Organization, an 18U Elite traveling team, and Gap2Gap Sports Performance in Mahopac, New York. Bombace has also been the hitting coach for TC Futures Fastpitch Organization in Mahopac. Bombace is the owner and founder of 1stBace Performance, LLC. In Wappingers Falls, New York, since 2020.Bombace was a two-sport athlete at Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, playing both softball and basketball. During her senior softball season at Ketcham, Bombace hit .543 with nine home runs and 42 RBI. Over the course of her high school career, Bombace belted 38 home runs and batted over .425 in each season on her way to being named All-League four times and All-Section three times. Bombace was named All-New York State and Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year following her senior campaign and was a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of New York.
