Katie Wimmer Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

Columbia’s goalkeeper recorded 22 saves and a shutout over the weekend

PRINCETON, N.J.Columbia field hockey goalkeeper Katie Wimmer has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
 

Wimmer earned her second shutout victory of the year last Friday with a nine-save performance at Cornell. The Lions picked up a 1-0 win in their Ivy League opener in Ithaca. The Windham, New Hampshire native then tallied a season-high 13 saves in Sunday's match vs. Monmouth.

The senior captain ranks third nationally in save percentage (.870) and in saves per game (9.40). Monday's accolade is the fourth Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week nod of Wimmer's career.

The Lions host Princeton on Friday at 6 p.m. for Pride Night from Columbia Field Hockey Complex. The first 100 fans will receive a Pride bracelet.
