Archery Welcomes Newcomers to Campus

Lipscomb, Moore, Shin join 2024-25 roster
NEW YORK — Columbia archery and head coach Derek Davis officially welcomed newcomers Alena Lipscomb, Briana Moore and Mia Shin to the team on Tuesday, the first day of classes for the 2024-25 academic year.
Alena Lipscomb – Fr. – 5-6 – Recurve – Barnard College – Khon Kaen, Thailand / Khon Kaen Vithes Suksa
Lipscomb joins the team from over 8,000 miles away in Khon Kaen, Thailand. She is a four-year member of the Thailand National Archery Team who also competed in varsity cross country and track & field at Khon Kaen Vithes Suksa, as well as the JV basketball team. As a junior, she broke Thailand' 60m archery record. This past year, the recurve shooter ranked as high as No. 197 in the World Archery Rankings, climbing every year since 2020. Academically, she was Head Girl of KKVS, Valedictorian of her 2024 class and earned First Honors in all science and math subjects.
Briana Moore – Fr. – 5-5 – Compound – Barnard College -- North High Shoals, Ga. / James Madison High School
Moore will look to become a force on Columbia's compound team. She placed first in her region at the 2022, 2023 and 2024 USA Archery JOAD Indoor Nationals, earning third nationally in 2022 and fourth in both '23 and '24. Among her many other notable finishes, Moore earned first individually this past year at the 4-H SAFE Shooting Sports Indoor State in the Senior Compound Female Division. She was also second at the National Archery Scholarship Tour in the Compound Cadet Women's Flight. Academically, she was Valedictorian of her class, Student Government Secretary (2020-21), Student Government Vice President (2021-22), Principal's 4.0 GPA Honor Roll and a four-year member of the National Honor Society.
Mia Shin – Fr. – 5-9 – Recurve – Columbia College – Gainesville, Fla. / Eastside High School
A recurve shooter from the Sunshine State, Shin competed for four years on the Eastside High School archery team and also shot for Easton Newberry Archery Center (2017-24). She ranked No. 13 for the USA Archery Team (USAT) in 2023 for the Junior Women's Division and earned silver in team rounds at JOAD Target Nationals that same year. Shin is both the Indoor and Outdoor Florida State Champion, winning that title three years in a row (2022-24). Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, an AP Scholar and ranked in the top 15 percent of Eastside's graduating class.
