The 24-hour, university-wide online fundraising initiative helps varsity programs reach fundraising goals
NEW YORK - Columbia Giving Day returns on Tuesday, October 1, 2024! This 24-hour, university-wide online fundraising initiative incorporates all University schools and programs. This day is a staple of the Columbia Athletics fundraising calendar. Each year, the Columbia Athletics community comes together to support our coaches and student-athletes. Many varsity sport programs meet their annual goals on this day and we are excited for 2024 to be our best year yet.
Department Bonuses
Each varsity sports program can unlock bonus dollars based on dollars raised, total gifts, and young alumni participation. The bonuses the varsity sports programs earn will count toward FY25 fundraising goals. The higher the dollars, gifts, and number of donors, the more the sports program can earn — and the better Columbia Athletics does against its University competitors!
University Bonuses
Columbia Athletics can unlock bonus dollars through university-wide challenges on the day. This year's challenges include most gift challenge hours, faculty/staff challenge hours, new donor challenges, and more.
Parent Participation!
This year, we have a NEW incentive for parents! Any parent(s) that donate $1,000 or more to the sports program of their choosing will be eligible to join other parents for a dinner with our Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Peter Pilling! Details on that will follow in the weeks after Giving Day.

The event begins at midnight ET on October 1st and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Giving Day 2024 Competitions
Athletics will be competing against other schools and units within the University for a share of over $200,000 in incentive funds, which can be accomplished by winning the hourly challenges including:
● 12-1 a.m. – Random Gifts ($2,500; five $500 recipients)
● 4-5 a.m. – Most International Gifts ($2,500)
● 8-9 a.m. – Most Gifts ($2,500)
● 9-10 a.m. – Random Parent Gift ($2,000)
● 10-11 a.m. – Random Gift to Center/Institute/Program ($2,000)
● 12-1 p.m. – Most Faculty/Staff Gifts ($2,500)
● 1-2 p.m. – Random International Gift ($2,000)
