Women's Swimming & Diving Concludes Regular Season with Victory over Dartmouth

Emily MacDonald, Jilly MacNamara combine to set three Dartmouth pool records

HANOVER, N.H. The Columbia women's swimming and diving team concluded the 2024-25 regular season in style on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Dartmouth Big Green in New Hampshire. The Lions earned their second consecutive victory, taking down Dartmouth by a score of 189-111 and setting three pool records in the process. 

"Great final dual meet for our team and to send off our seniors," Head Coach Diana Caskey said. "Lots of great energy, performances, and three more pool records! Bodes well for championship season."

Emily MacDonald put an exclamation point on an amazing senior regular season, setting two Dartmouth pool records. First, she did so in the 50 free, taking first place with a record time of 22.69. In the next event, she also set a record in the 100 free after finishing first with a time of 49.78.

First-year Jilly MacNamara also had a historic day, winning the 200 back and setting a Dartmouth pool record in the process with a time of 1:58.24. 

Elsewhere, in the first individual event of the day, Meredith Stewart earned a win in the 1000 free thanks to a time of 10:10.27. Later in the day, she won the 500 free with a time of 4:59.60. 

Allison Martin followed that up with a victory in the 200 free, touching the wall at 1:51.95. 

Ashley Hu won the 100 breast yet again, this time finishing with a time of 1:02.22.

Impressively, Mia Avansino and Annabelle Kung tied for first with the exact same time in the 200 fly (2:05.29).

Ashley Hong took first in the 200 IM, finishing at 2:04.83. 

In the final event of the day, Sally Ma, MacDonald, Isabel Lee, and Audrey Wolk finished in first place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.28. 

For the divers, Macy Pine placed second on the 1m boards with a score of 277.50. Chloe Leung paced the Lions on the 3m boards, finishing with a zone qualifying score and career best of 291.38. 

"Great diving today for the women!" Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "A career best and NCAA zone qualifying score for Chloe. The focus now turns to the women's Ivy League Championships!"

Columbia's first postseason meet will be the Boston Winter Open which will begin on February 7.
