Passalacqua picks up first-team honors and is the first Lion to earn All-America status since 2017
AUSTIN, Texas — Columbia football senior Patrick Passalacqua was selected to the 2024 Academic All-America first team, as selected by College Sports Communicators. Passalacqua becomes the first Lion to earn the honor since Chris Schroer '18CC in 2017 and the first to pick up first-team accolades since John Sefcik '72CC.
Passalacqua, an industrial engineering & operations research major at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, is one of 25 representatives on the first team, comprised of FBS and FCS schools at the NCAA Division I level.
Passalacqua was a two-time captain and started 30 career games on the defensive line. In 2024, the native of Old Tappan, New Jersey, posted a career-high 32 tackles and forced a fumble to help Columbia earn its first Ivy League Championship since 1961. He was a key member of the Lions' defense that ranked No. 2 in FCS in scoring average (16.1) and led the Ivy League in four team categories.
