HOPKINTON, N.H. — The Columbia cross country team is set to race in the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regionals hosted by Boston College on Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's 6k at 11 a.m., while the men's 10k begins at noon.
Teams from all across the northeast region will make the trip north for the meet, with 41 teams on both the men's and women's sides set to compete. A full list of the participating programs with starting box assignments can be found on the NCAA's website, HERE.
Two weeks ago, the Lions left a mark at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships as the women's team finished third overall, and Edward Blaha, Olivia Murray, and Rory Claire were named Second Team All-Ivy with their standout performances. The women's team tallied 103 points in the competition while the men's team came in sixth with 146 points.
Murray paced the women's squad at Heps in the 6k, clocking in at 21:41.7 and placing 12th overall.
Clare ran a personal-best time of 20:47.3, finishing 28th overall at the Princeton Fall Classic.
On the men's side, senior Edward Blaha has been consistently the top finisher for the Lions and led the pack at the Louisville Classic with a personal-best time of 23:59.8.
Other standout performers to look out for are Brett Bishop (24:25.1 PR), George Blaha (24:14.9 PR), and Henry Koike-Sieira (24:05.9 PR).
The top two scoring teams in both the men's race and women's race will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships next weekend. In addition, the top four individual finishers not on a qualifying team will also qualify for the NCAA Championships. The top-25 individual student-athletes will receive All-Region recognition.
Last year, senior standout Phoebe Anderson earned a spot at the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the fourth year in a row, extending one of the most consistent national-level streaks in program history. Anderson placed second overall at the NCAA East Regional in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, clocking 19:31.48 in the women's 6k.
