NEW YORK — Columbia track & field, men's golf, women's tennis and wrestling are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
TRACK & FIELD
MEN'S GOLF
The men's golf team opens its spring season on Saturday and Sunday at The Savannah Intercollegiate. The Lions had a successful fall that consisted of three top-five team finishes, as well as a tournament victory at the Columbia Classic in Lake Placid (Sept. 28-29). First-year Grant Lester led the team with a 71.67 stroke average in 12 fall rounds, including three top 10s, two top fives and a runner-up in his collegiate debut at The Doc Gimmler (Sept. 16-17). Wyatt McGovern, George Rubelsky and William Sung are expected to compete in the team event. The final lineups will be available this week on the live tournament scoring page on the College Golf Scoreboard.

Track and Field is preparing for the busiest weekend of the season, with four different meets on the schedule. Om Friday, the week will begin with the Don Kirby Elite Invitational hosted by New Mexico. The BU Valentine Invitational will also begin on Friday and run through Saturday. Then on Saturday, the team will compete in a pair of meets hosted by Ivy League schools. This includes the Yale Geigengack Invitational and the Cornell Kane Invitatinal. The Lions are coming off a solid weekend at the Penn Classic, where Lucy Henkel was the star of the show, breaking the program record in the indoor 1k with a time of 2:42.81 to win the event. This time is also second in the history of the Ivy League.

Following a week off, the Columbia wrestling team returns to the mat for two matches this weekend. The Lions will travel to Harvard on Saturday and Brown on Sunday to complete the Ivy League slate. Columbia heads to Bucknell of February 21 for the final dual of the season before competing at the Ivy League Championships on March 9 in Princeton.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Women's tennis is back in action Sunday at Syracuse. The Lions are back on the court for the first time since posting a second-place finish at the ECAC Championships last weekend. Columbia defeated Brown and Harvard in the first two matches to reach the championship match for the second straight season. The Lions fell just short to Yale, 4-2, in a tight contest to wrap up the weekend. Columbia sits at 5-3 overall this season heading into Sunday's matchup against the Orange.
