PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Columbia track & field team had a fantastic day at the Penn Collegiate Classic on Saturday afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love.
Lucy Henkel was the star of the show, breaking the program record in the indoor 1k with a time of 2:42.81 to win the event. This time is also second in the history of the Ivy League.
Rory Clare finished second with a time of 2:44.53, also setting a new personal record.
For
Obiora Okeke, it was another great day. He continued his winning season with another first place finish in shot put with a mark of 18.59m.
Ryan Borden and
Tyler Tubman were both top finishers in the 1000m, finishing second and third respectively. Borden had a time of 2:23.94 and Tubman had a time of 2:23.99.
Rocco Carpinello also had a second place finish in triple jump, placing with a mark of 14.76m.
The women's team also had a plethora of other top finishers.
Leanna Johnston competed in the 3000m, winning her event and finishing with a time of 9:44.58.
Sydney Goldson had a second place finish in the 500m with a time of 1:14.83. In the 200m,
Josie Rempe placed third with a time of 24.75.
There were two third place finishers in the women's field events.
Jessica Thompson placed third in pole vault with a mark of 3.81m.
Madison Williams placed third in long jump with a mark of 5.79m.

The Lions also had three student-athletes compete in this prestigious Millrose Games at the Amory this weekend.
Simon Skoumal had a personal best 18.55m in the weight throw which was good for sixth all time at Columbia. This was good for an appearance in the finals.
Parker Kim finished eighth at 18.09m.
Camilyn Blake finished sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.63.
