MELBOURNE, Fla. — First-year
Christine Chang carded a final-round 2-under-par 70 to tie for eighth at the 2025 Columbia Classic. The 54-hole tournament took place Saturday and Sunday at Duran Golf Club.
Chang's 70 was a collegiate low through a combined four fall and spring tournaments. Starting the day just outside the top 10, the rookie from Auburn, Alabama found herself 1-over on the final round with three holes remaining. She then went birdie, birdie, birdie to close it out at the par-4 sixth, 162-yard par-3 seventh and par-4 eighth. That shot her into the top 10, earning Chang her second consecutive top-10 finish dating back to last fall.
Chang completed the tournament 2-over-par 218 (72-76-70). Her 54-hole total ranks in the top 10 in Columbia women's golf history.
Columbia (+42) finished eighth in the team competition. Led by Chang's 70, the Lions posted a final-round team total of 9-over-par 297. Juniors
Emma Shen and
Yoko Tai shot 74 and 76, respectively. First-year
Sarah Shao carded a 77. All five Lions in the team competition posted sub-80 rounds.
Illinois State (+4) won the team competition by four shots over Princeton (+8). Princeton's Catherine Rao (-6) was the individual medalist.
The Lions are back in action next month, March 14-16, at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona. The event is being hosted by Northern Arizona University.
