NEW YORK — The 2025-26 Columbia women's golf season begins on Monday at the Battle at the Creek. The two-day, 54-hole event is being hosted by Sacred Heart University at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Fifteen schools will compete in this year's event with more than 90 individual competitors. The teams include Columbia, host Sacred Heart, Bryant, Bucknell, Delaware State, Fairfield, FDU, Iona, Lehigh, Le Moyne, LIU, Manhattan, Mount Saint Mary's, Sacred Heart and Wagner.
The tournament's first two rounds will be played on Monday, followed by the final round on Tuesday. Tee times will be posted when available.
The Lions are expected to have nine members compete at the season-opening event, split into two teams of five. Senior
Yoko Tai, sophomores
Christine Chang,
Emily Luo and
Sarah Shao, and first-year
Kristina Xu will be Team A. A duo of first years in
Bridget Chantharath and
Camille Thai, as well as junior
Lauren Lee and senior
Emma Shen, will make up Team B. This year's roster consists of six returners to go with the four first-year newcomers.
Chang is coming off a tremendous rookie campaign in which she set the program's new single-season record for stroke average (74.32). Along the way, she posted six top 25s in nine events, as well as four top 10s and two runner-up finishes. One of those second-place finishes came at the 2025 Ivy League Championship, where Chang shot a three-round total of 6-under-par 210, which was a new 54-hole program low.
Shao was also impressive as a rookie, posting a stroke average of 75.45 for the season, which ranks as the sixth-lowest single-season stroke average in program history. Classmate
Emily Luo posted a 76.68, giving the three rookies the three lowest stroke averages on the team last season.
Seniors
Yoko Tai and
Emma Shen roll into this season with much experience. Both have been mainstays in Columbia's lineup over their first three years, competing in 31 tournaments each. Tai was Second Team All-Ivy League as a sophomore in 2023-24, the same year she led the team in stroke average (76.10). Junior
Lauren Lee has competed in 11 events so far in her career.
The Lions are also excited to see what their
group of four newcomers can do in their first collegiate event.
