LAS VEGAS — For the second straight year, Columbia archery sophomore
Eunice Choi took gold in the Collegiate Recurve Female Division at The Vegas Shoot. The 2025 competition took place March 6-8 at the Horseshoe Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood.
Choi's score of 856 registered an impressive 21st in the Championship Recurve Female Division, which includes professional and Olympic archers. All of Columbia's archers shot in the championship pools. The scores of the collegiate competitors were then extracted from the championship pools to create the collegiate pools.
"While it was great to see Eunice defend her collegiate title, it was even better to see her joined on the podium by her teammates," head coach
Derek Davis said. "This was a great way to wrap up our indoor season but we're excited to get outside now and see what we can do there."
Choi beat out a pool of 22 archers to win collegiate recurve female gold with a score of 574. Senior
Judith Gottlieb earned the bronze with a score of 572. Junior
Lillian Han earned a top-five with a total of 559. Sophomore
Michelle Ahn (540) and first-year
Mia Shin (536) finished inside the top 10.
Sydney Sullenberger was Columbia's top finisher in the compound. Out of 38 collegiate archers, the junior from Florida scored 597 in the collegiate competition, just one point shy of the gold. Junior
Giselle DeSousa (591) was 14th. First-year
Briana Moore (581) was 23rd.
Columbia's first event of the outdoor season is the Arizona Cup, which takes place April 4-6 in Phoenix.
