NEW YORK – The Columbia lacrosse team hosted Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon in the team's final home game of 2025. After a tightly contested first quarter, the Big Green pulled away and cruised to a 13-6 victory.
With the loss, Columbia drops to 4-10 on the season and 0-6 in conference play. Meanwhile, Dartmouth improves to 9-5 on the season and to 4-2 in Ivy League play.
Maddie Brogan led Columbia's attack with her second straight hat trick. Senior
Sophie Kruse added a goal, her second goal of the season, on Senior Day.
Michelle Zhai and
Anna Becker each chipped in a goal.
The Big Green struck first, scoring the first goal of the game less than a minute into the contest, but Kruse had a quick answer finding the back of the net to tie the score. Becker scored just three minutes later to give the Lions a 2-1 lead.
From that point, Dartmouth went on a huge run to pull away, spanning over the first, second and third quarters. The Big Green scored the next eight goals to take a 9-2 lead. Zhai scored with 1:04 left in the third quarter to end the extended run.
Dartmouth opened the fourth quarter with a quick goal. Brogan responded with her first goal of the afternoon at the 11:00 mark in the fourth quarter to make it a 10-4 game. Dartmouth scored the next three goals to make it 13-4 before Brogan scored the last two goals of the game to make it a 13-6 final, while securing the hat trick.
On the defensive end, goalie
Simone Koryszewski started and picked up 10 saves. Becker led the team with two draw controls. Koryszewski and
Alison Surace were tied for the team lead with three ground balls each.
Natalia Raiszadeh,
Maddy Goger, and
Julie Griswold each had two caused turnovers.
Dartmouth dominated in the draw control circle, with the Lions losing that battle by a 17-5 margin. Shots were a much closer battle, with Dartmouth outshooting Columbia 33-29. Columbia had more ground balls than the Big Green, 19-13, and had more saved shots than Dartmouth, 10-9.
Following the conclusion of the game, the Lions honored their seven seniors in a senior day ceremony.

Sophie Kruse,
Simone Koryszewski,
Noelle DeMarinis,
Dani Falcone, and
Julie Griswold. They completed their final game in New York City today, and will play the final game of their careers next weekend.
Next up, the Lions will close out the 2025 season with a road game against Harvard. First draw is set for Saturday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
